Production Line Worker – Food Manufacturing Factory Jobs | Golden Valley Foods Inc
Golden Valley On-siteJob Description
Golden Valley Foods has operated food processing and packaging operations in Fresno for 19 years. We manufacture frozen meals, canned goods and snack packs for distribution to grocery chains throughout California and neighboring states. It's not glamorous work but it's honest work and we have people on our floor that have been with us 10, 12, even 15 years. That tells you something about how we treat our team.
We are looking for Production Line Workers to join our Fresno team! Shifts available are morning, afternoon and overnight. If you are a person who is on time, works hard and doesn't need to be told the same thing twice you'll do good here.
Job Role:
- You will be working on our production floor, operating machinery, monitoring the line, packing products into boxes and making sure everything that leaves this facility meets our quality standards. Some parts of the day are repetitive and that is just the nature of factory work. But the time goes fast when you are part of a good team and we genuinely have a good team here.
- You will also do basic cleaning and sanitation of your workstation at the start and end of every shift. This is a food facility so hygiene standards are strict and non negotiable. Your supervisor will walk you through everything during your first week so you are not expected to know it all on day one.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor assigned production line machinery during shift
- Pack finished products into boxes, cartons or pallets as per daily output targets
- Check product quality visually and report any defects or irregularities to supervisor immediately
- Follow all food safety, hygiene and sanitation protocols at all times
- Clean and sanitize workstation at start and end of every shift
- Work at a consistent pace to meet hourly and daily production targets
- Report any machinery issues or safety concerns to floor supervisor right away
- Attend daily pre shift briefing with your team lead
Pay and Benefits:
- Hourly Pay: $17.50 to $21.00 per hour depending on shift and experience
- Overnight shift differential: additional $1.50 per hour on top of base rate
- Weekly pay, every Friday directly to your bank account or via check
- Overtime available and paid at 1.5x rate for hours above 40 per week
- Health insurance after 60 days of employment, medical and dental covered
- Paid time off: 10 days per year after first 90 days
- 401k plan with company contribution after 6 months
- Steel toe boots reimbursement up to $80 after 90 days
- Free meals in the facility cafeteria during your shift break
- Uniform and safety gear provided by the company at no cost to you
Shifts Available:
Morning Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM
Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM
All shifts are Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday overtime when production volume is high. Saturday overtime is always voluntary and paid at 1.5x rate.
Work Environment:
The production floor is loud in some areas so ear protection is provided and required. Parts of the facility are kept at cold temperatures for food safety reasons so a company issued jacket is provided. Steel toe boots are required and if you do not have a pair we will reimburse you for a new pair after your first 90 days.
We do random drug testing as required by our food safety compliance program. All new hires go through a background check before their first day. Neither of these should be a concern for anyone applying in good faith.
Growth Opportunities:
We promote from within whenever we can. Several of our current line supervisors and shift leads started as production workers and worked their way up over two to three years. If you show up consistently, do your job well and show an interest in taking on more responsibility, we will notice and we will give you that opportunity when it comes up.
There is also a cross training program where workers can learn to operate different types of machinery and move between different lines. Cross trained workers are more flexible and they are always the first ones considered when a senior position opens up.
Requirements
- Education: No specific educational qualification required, high school diploma or GED is a plus
- Previous factory, warehouse, food processing or manufacturing experience plus but not required
- Being 18 years of age or older
- able to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs regularly and work in a cold environment as some of our facilities are temperature controlled
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable with physical work throughout the shift.
- Must be legally entitled to work in the United States
- Can follow instructions in English. Bilingual Spanish speaking candidates are also very welcome as many of our team speak Spanish.
